Dress Rehearsal
The Lord said concerning Covid and current affairs (racism, vaccination, masks, fear of food/supply shortages, fear of sickness, fear of judgement, etc.) “This is dress rehearsal”. Many controversial issues have come up at once and have required people to make decisions about what they believe and what they stand for. Many have straddled the fence in the past not wanting the potential consequences of taking a stand or making a decision. The current climate of the world has given us a violent shove off the fence. NOW, we must decide how to proceed. There will no longer be a place for bystanders. Given all of the current affairs that require decisions from us, the questions comes, how should I proceed, what will I stand for, what is right and wrong? The practice of determining right from wrong for yourself in all that is going on around you depends on where you go to find truth. As a believer, we are to seek God for all truth and for everything. What we choose to do in response to situations around us is a dress rehearsal for the real thing. Our faith, trust and beliefs are being tested. How will you respond when fear is oppressive in the nation, what will you do when there are threats of lack (food, etc.), will you stand for truth when the majority is against you? The way we chose to navigate these decisions is practice for what is to come. Dress rehearsal is the last rehearsal before the final show. It when the actors rehearse in full costume and makeup as if they are before and audience and great effort is given not to make a mistake. IF a mistake happens, the cost is minimal and they learn where they need improvement before the final show. Mistakes during the final show are of greater consequence.
This dress rehearsal is a gift of grace. It is an opportunity for people to practice making decisions when the consequences are relatively small. It is a preparation for what is to come. It will prepare us to make important decisions when the consequences are much greater. Practicing going to God for guidance regardless of what is going on around you is vital to the coming season. Learning to seek God, ignore fear, give no credence to what others or the majority are choosing, to live from a place of trust and full dependence on Him are all imperative skills for the future. Please choose to practice going to God for everything while there is still time to practice in a relatively safe environment.
